Clinical psychology has come a long way since Witmer founded the specialty by opening the first psychological clinic in 1886. It is hard to imagine that about 50 years ago there were no psychology licensing laws in any state and no comprehensive clinical psychology training guidelines, accreditation standards, or models of training. Furthermore, it is astonishing that 50 years ago, clinical psychologists were often not allowed to conduct psychotherapy since it was the exclusive domain of psychiatrists. Today, clinical psychology is a thriving field, utilizing the integrated resources of numerous perspectives and interventions. Clinical psychology is now practiced in a wide variety of hospitals, clinics, businesses, and educational settings, among other locations. Curiously, while clinical psychology has come such a long way, its progress has sometimes occurred, not because of but, in spite of the APA. Several times, the clinical psychologists resigned from the APA to form their own independent group. Each time they later decided to rejoin the APA. The differences of opinion between the applied clinical professionals and the majority academic and scientific members of APA have been a fact of life since the APA was founded. pieces. Research into technologies that can slice chilled, raw, restructured meats should be undertaken. Success in this regard will ensure better appearance for restructured products and a saving in cost. Current trends indicate consumers are demanding more natural products with no additives of any kind if possible. This challenge should be taken up by the industry and researchers to produce restructured wholetissue meats that meet this requirement. There are indications (Farouk and Zhang 2005) that pressure alone without any binder can be used to create enough surface protein matrices on whole-tissue meat to achieve reasonable bind strength on hot-setting. More research should be done to explore this and other possibilities of achieving binding of whole-tissue meats without the use of external binders. Enhancement of meat and the stretching of prerigor muscles are recent techniques employed to improve the eating quality and consistency of meat from whole-tissue muscles. Research should be done to determine if these techniques can be used to improve the texture and tenderness of the raw materials used for whole-tissue restructuring. The problem of warmed-over avor and aroma in restructured meats has been recognized for a long time. The use of natural antioxidants to control warmed-over avor and lipid oxidation is promising. However, research that seeks to combine natural antioxidants and packaging to solve avor and odor issues in whole-tissue restructured meats is not being given the attention it deserves and should be encouraged. More whole-tissue restructured meats are produced in shapes and sizes that are different from the traditional steak products. For example, restructured free- ow individually quick-frozen cubes from whole muscles or boneless cuts are manufactured for use in ready meals and stroganoff-type products.

The registration module is put to use before the guest arrives at the hotel to register. The guests who have placed reservations with the hotel have already had their data entered into the PMS database. Figure 7-7 shows a completed version of the blank guest data screen illustrated in Figure 5-4. The guest information is now available for registration. The PMS is able to produce advance registration forms for guests, like that shown in Figure 7-8, with an interface between the registration module and the reservation module database. The PMS preselects a room for the guest from the room inventory for the day of arrival. When the guest arrives, the advance registration form already will have been printed the night before by the second- or third-shift front desk clerks. After the advance registration forms have been printed, they are led alphabetically at the front desk. Some operations choose not to preprint the forms but instead have the guest complete a standard registration card. Having preprinted advance registration forms available when guests arrive is invaluable in registering guests quickly, particularly when a full house is checking in or when the front desk is operating with less than its full staff. When a guest with a reservation arrives at the front desk to register, the front desk clerk greets him or her and then inquires whether the guest has a reservation.
